Drawings

One night after watching the show I suddenly got an urge to make a drawing of Jackie. Capturing a still from the video, I made the first portrait since primary school. One followed another, and after a while I had some twenty drawings lying around the living room. Some were not so good, others weren't that much of a likeness, but there are a few that I'm quite pleased with. In time I'll scan some more of them to post on these pages.

If any readers would like to contribute, email me and I'll post your scans here too.

"Yeah, I did like music when I was younger." This is my favorite drawing of Jackie. Not only does she look sweet as a peach, but the likeness isn't too bad either. It is from the career planner interview, when she talked of her O-level in music. I took a video capture to an AVI file to find the best shot, stepping through one frame at a time, and watching the smile slowly appear on her face is such a nice sight.

At this point I was really frustrated about never being able to draw the right eye properly, so I reversed the image to make it easier. The jaw is probably a little small, but the nose (one of the hardest parts to draw) is quite nice.

"Mental health... I'd like to work in something like that." Another drawing from the career planner interview. What's really nice about portrait drawing is that you have to concentrate on every facial feature in order to get it right. And isn't it cute the way the hair curls around the ears and into the back?

After people started writing me about the site I suddenly got some other subjects to draw as well. I've drawn a few friends with mixed results, but there is one favourite subject that I'll never tire of spending an evening looking into the eyes of. Here are some of the better ones.
